February Fun: 28-Day Blog Challenge

The beginning of a new month is a fun type to set goals, right?! This month I’m setting goals a little differently than normal, because I’m joining Katy’s 28-Day Blog Challenge.

28-Day Blog Challenge

I’ve been making a few changes over the past month that you may or may not have noticed, but when Katy announced this blog challenge I jumped on the chance to focus my efforts and be inspired by others. I want to make this a place you like to visit and that’s easy to find what you’re looking for. That’s my goal as I make any changes here!

If you’re not a blogger, feel free to tune out now and come back tomorrow for my Week in Training recap. Or jump down to the comments and let me know what you’d like to see change!

Instead of starting with a full 28 goals on my list (one for each day), I’m going to start with the first 2 weeks and leave plenty of space to be inspired by your feedback and other participants in the #28DBC. I’m also not going to be strict about doing 1 per day (although that would be good).

I’m starting with the goal categories that Katy recommended to make sure I think broadly:

Blogging

  1. Update About and Coaching Bios
  2. Create video intro for About
  3. Find your five most popular posts and edit for grammar, broken links, add new information/photos
  4. Update Coaching pages
  5. Create blog signature and add to end of all posts
  6. Create new Vlog

Social Media

twitter, facebook, instagram, pinterest, youtube

  1. Review and refresh follows/friends on all platforms
  2. Create/edit lists

Communication

  1. Edit Google Reader folders for better organization & related blogroll
  2. Update media kit
  3. Create media kit cover letter
  4. Update Contact form

Community

  1. Write a post that includes links to at least five other posts that you found interesting
  2. Select a favorite blog and email the owner — tell him/her why you like it, what you admire most and offer some unsolicited POSITIVE comments

That’s a great list of goals! I’m doing Katy’s challenge too. I plan to take some time this weekend to make a plan for improvement. Your list and Katy’s give me some great ideas to get started!

I love the idea of this challenge. There are always so many little things that I want to do/fix/update on my blog that I never get around to doing. This is such a great impetus! Your goals look great and good luck!

I am participating in the blog challenge too! Some things on my list are to clean out my Google reader to make way for new blogs, write guest blog posts, add more to my mailing list, check affiliate offers daily, update about pages and a lot more.

Other challenges? I saw a 100 day Burpee challenge that I think I’ll start up next week.

I’m so on this! I just got a little snippet of what the challenge was about yesterday so this weekend I’m sitting down and mapping things out. There’s a lot of things I’ve been wanting to do with my blog and this is the little extra push I needed to do it!

Interesting…I have never thought about a blog signature, but now I want one. :) I’ll have to look more into the challenge. I’m excited to see your updates and changes (even though I love what you already do)!

The closest thing to a challenge I’ve got going right now is helping others with the Engine 2 Diet 28-Day Challenge that my Whole Foods is doing. I’m going to be doing some cooking demos for it, although I’m not taking the challenge myself.

I’m participating in lots of challenges! The 28 Day Blog Challenge is one of them! I love your idea of a video in the about me section. If you don’t mind, I’ve added it to my list of to-dos.
One of my big projects for the Blog Challenge this month is to create categories and classify all of my past posts. That one might take me all month to figure out! Good luck and have fun! :)

Good luck with the category task – I did that early this month and it takes some time. Maybe sit down with a glass of wine and have fun! :)

That’s a great list. For those of us, not full time bloggers, it’s tough keeping up with all the little things we should do to keep our blog fresh looking and up to date.
One suggestion someone made to me was to create a group of like interest bloggers. From 6 – 10 to be effective. Each member would comment on the other members blog. Support each other if a member were too busy by offering guest posts, and so on. I thought it was a great idea.

Exactly – so many things competing for our attention! I like your idea of the group, I guess I kind of do that informally, but it’s interesting to think of making that a real thing. I’ll have to think on that one – thanks for the suggestion!

Join the challenge – everyone’s doing it. ;) I’m sad I missed the bloggers dinner last night – miss that group! – especially since I was in the Atlanta airport. I hope we can plan one in March when I’m in town for the Publix half!

I wish I could claim that as my original idea, but it’s one that I heard somewhere and keep meaning to do. :) Media Kit always seems the most daunting, but needs to be done!
