Have you heard of Pretty Muddy? It’s one of the mud races that have started over the past few years, where you complete a 5K course covered with obstacles and get dirty! Some of the features they boast are:
- 5k Course (3.1 miles, run or walk)
- Women Only (sorry, guys)
- Mud (lots of it)
- Architectural Obstacles (much better than shabby hay bales and shaky plywood)
- Pretty Epic Finish Line Party (entertainment, music, drinks & celebration galore)
I am hoping they will add a Denver race this year (I heard they were considering it…) so I can join in the fun! Either way, I have a deal to share with YOU today.
The folks at Muddy Buddy are offering a ONE TIME $20 discount to past participants and YOU! The code is GIRLTIME and you’ll get the best price of 2013 if you use it to register by the end of the month! You can see a list of all announced races here, which will click through to the registration links. There’s one in my old stomping ground (Atlanta), but I’ll have to keep stalking the page for a location near me!
This special expires at the end of January…after that the price will never be this low again (no groupons, living social, etc. this year). I hope this special helps you add another fun race to your 2013 season!

Questions for you:
-
Have you done a muddy race or other fun themed race? The Color Me Rad race is the only one I’ve done so far.
-
Do these type of adventure runs peak your interest or are you more of a serious races only person?

These races do peak my interest, but in the end, I think I’d just prefer a regular race. They’re already pretty fun. :)

I can appreciate that – I do love normal races! :)
We need some races like this in Germany!

I can’t believe this hasn’t made the leap across the pond yet – it seems like it would do great!
I am a Pretty Muddy blogger too! You should come to ATL for the race and we can do it together!

That would be really fun, maybe I’ll be able to make that work out!
I completed the Dirty Girl Mud Run back in May . . . it was a total blast!!! There are a couple of pics on my blog, if you want to see. It was pretty darn muddy!

I’ll have to check that out – I have only done the paint messy version so far, but I hope to do pretty muddy this year!
I haven’t heard of a muddy race around here, but they always do a color run in Tulsa every year and that looks like so much fun!

The color run I did last year was awesome, if you can’t find a mud run, I highly recommend it!
SUCH A GREAT RACE!! I wish they would expand to Canada :)

They definitely should!
I used to love mud runs! What I really loved was the obstacles. It breaks it up and let’s you use other muscles.
You know I’ve got that adventure race coming up… A little different than this type of race. 8 hours on a course and canoeing should be interesting…

I remember that picture of you from a mud run! It would be fun to do something different like this, I really hope I get a chance to try!
And your adventure race is a whole different level – I can’t wait to hear all about it. :)
I’ve done an obstacle race before with Mud. It was so much fun :D Too bad this race isn’t in Canada :(

Oh man, I hope I get to try it. You’re the second person to wish for a Canadian expansion – great idea!
Wow, this is so neat! I am running a 5k in March so after I accomplish that I may have to attempt a mud run :) Have fun! Love + Shine CourtStar

That would be perfect – conquer the distance, and then have fun with the distance!
I read a whole article about these races in one of my women’s lifestyle mags (can’t remember which one) and it definitely continued to peak and interest sparked by my little sister doing a Warrior Dash–jumping through fire! so hardcore–and my brother and sister-in-law doing a Zombie Run. I think they sound fun, but I’ve never really been into races. Although lately…well, I’ve been considering it. I think a Rock N’ Roll type of race would be more my speed. [Haha. Pun accidental.]

I’ve been reading about them too and I just haven’t been able to try it yet! I can hear the race bug in your comments recently… you need to do it!! :)
Why is it women only isn’t that discrimination? How times have changed. What if I wear a dress can I get involved then?

I’ve thought this before and I think there should be men’s only races too! I think the women’s races are meant to create a safe environment for women who aren’t as comfortable in this setting. But I’ll vote for a men’s race with you too! :)
They should just give the women a head start, but I understand what you are saying, some women don’t want all that testosterone running around them, may put them off ha ha

Sounds fun for sure! But man, I hate getting muddy, I know… lame! :)

I remember my parents telling me I hated getting muddy as a kid. It’s kind of a badge of honor for me now. :)
I’ve never done one of these races, but they definitely appeal to me. I’m hoping to do a Tough Mudder with my family this year. I hope they add a Denver run so you can participate.

Yes – we all need to cheer loudly for a Denver addition to the Pretty Muddy series – what a fun day that would be!
That sounds so fun! I need to check to see if there is one close to me!!

I think the closest one to you is Atlanta right now…if I have my geography right. Road trips are fun, sometimes…
They have a Chicago race and I can’t wait for it! :)

Awesome!! Are you already signed up?!
I would totally do it! Always wanted to do a mud run. I’ve only ever done regular, non-themed races (unless you count the Jingle Bell Run where people dress up like Santa… I just wore a lot of layers because it was usually about 20˚on race day)
After the Color Run, themed races interest me even more. I’m hoping to add a couple to my list later this year!
I haven’t run a mud race but they look like so much fun! I’ll have to check out if they’ll be around NYC.

It looks like they need to add one in your area too – the closest right now looks like Ohio or Virginia!
