I’m trying something new this month. I sometimes feel like the month flies by and I don’t even remember what happened for most of it! It’s not just me, right?! This month, I want to take a few minutes to reflect on what’s happened around here and share some favorites from the month.
I’m also going to start sharing my workouts on Tuesdays for accountability – you can find those at the end of the post.
Recipes
- Lime Smoothie: What do you do when you buy WAY too many limes for a Mexican-themed party? Make smoothies!
- How To Press Tofu & Create a Tofu Scramble: A two video special that’s all about tofu! How to press it correctly, so you’ll love it as much as me, AND a video/recipe for Mexican Scramble!
- Announcing Meatless Mondays from A-Z + Spinach Enchiladas: Don’t miss the new Monday link party featuring YOUR Meatless Monday recipes featured around a different key ingredient each week. I also shared an easy recipe for Spinach Enchiladas that Kirk created!
Fitness
- Running & Multisport Circuit Workout #2: One of two multisport specific strength sessions I’ve shared recently – which is easy to do at home with minimal equipment.
- Even In Ironman, One Is Never Enough: I registered for my second Ironman – Ironman Cairnes (Australia) in 2013!
Best Video
- The World’s Largest Aquarium – Better Late Than Never: This one didn’t get many views, but I am proud of how the video of the whale sharks and other large aquatic animals turned out!
Your Favorite Post
- Making the Cut with new Workouts & Calorie Counting: Based on number of views, your favorite post this month was the reveal of my new strength training and calorie counting plan to get back to “fighting weight”.
My Favorite Post
- An Empty House – Goodbye Atlanta: This is one of those posts that I know I’ll read again and again. A great way to remember our first house and remember what makes a house a home!

Last Week’s Workouts
You may remember that last week I got my butt back in a real gym and started a modified version of Making the Cut. I’m really enjoying it so far! I’ve been sore, but not enough that it’s compromised my running.
- Monday – Making the Cut (Day 1 modified)
- Tuesday – 4M Run + Making the Cut (Day 2 modified)
- Wednesday – 6M Run
- Thursday – :45 Bike + Making the Cut (Day 4 modified)
- Friday – 2M Run + Making the Cut (Day 5 modified) + 2M Run
- Saturday – 3M Run
- Sunday – 12M “Run”
Sunday’s run was a little ridiculous. I found a route mapped online and it said it was 500 feet of climbing. Garmin and I strongly disagree with over 1500 feet of climbing recorded. It was brutal with way more walking than I would like, but the most gorgeous run I think I’ve ever done!
This Week’s Plan
This week it’s more of the same. Although I get a little break in the long run department. Thank goodness – maybe I can run most of it!
- Monday – Making the Cut (Day 8 modified)
- Tuesday – 4M Run + Making the Cut (Day 9 modified)
- Wednesday – 6M Run
- Thursday – 1:00 Bike + Making the Cut (Day 11 modified)
- Friday – 6M Run (Repeats) + Making the Cut (Day 12 modified)
- Saturday – 3M Run
- Sunday – 8 Mile Run
We’re also hoping to take advantage of the shorter run and get in a hike at some point this weekend!

Me too!! It helps that Kirk’s been doing his workouts at the same time as me, something even with me. :)
I like the recap! It reminded me I want to make a tofu scramble this week. :)
I can’t WAIT for the A-Z Mondays to start!

Oh good – I’ll try to keep this going then! Mmm…tofu scramble. I could make one every week. :)
I like the recap, really gets me in the mood for a new month.

My favorite run is a 5Klot around a small lake in blazing heat. I then take off my running shoes and jump in the lake.
I love that idea! You get to look forward to a little relief after your 3 mile run. :)
I love the re-cap! I think it’s always fun to reflect back on things. :)
July was a BIG month for you! It’s nice to think that next month (er, tomorrow) you will be able to settle in to your new surroundings a bit more (although- you already are doing a pretty darn good job with that!)

Thanks Lauren! It was a big month, easy to forget (surprisingly).
I like the recaps…since I go through busy phases of life where I don’t get to read as many blog posts as I like, it’s nice to have the highlights. [In this case--lucky me--I've already read most of these. ;)]

I know exactly what you mean! It’s hard to balance everything sometimes and blogs can be the first to drop off. Or I’ll end up reading more than I comment sometimes.
I like your recaps! I’m making your tofu scramble!

Oh good! I want to hear how you liked the tofu scramble, always love feedback. :)
i need to do a post like this!! maybe next month.
i miss you.
Yes – and you have so many awesome posts to highlight! Miss you too – come visit. :)
I like the recap! It’s fun to look back, especially as I’m not always reading everyone’s blog consistently depending on the work load of my week. Interesting to see! And I’d LOVE to run in those Rockies with you – and have you come to THESE Rockies for a run too! :D By the way…how’s the “making the cut” plan going? Keep at it!

I’m so excited the recap got good reviews. I feel bad because I haven’t been as good a blog reader/commenter either. Work just sucks up time sometimes!
Once I get used to these rockies, I’ll feel so much more prepared to run with you! I’m really enjoying the strength plan so far – and Kirk is too actually. At the end of this week I’ll be halfway through, so I’ll share my thoughts so far. I’m learning so many new exercises!
