Do you have business cards? Whether you have a small business, home business, blog, or whatever you want to advertise – I think business cards still make sharing your message easy! Before I went to Blend at the beginning of the month, I wanted cards to hand out to my new friends during the weekend. I felt that I missed out when I was at FoodBlogSouth and was determined to NOT make that mistake again.
Around the same time, I was offered a perk on Klout for 50 free business cards with MOO, a unique printing company. Why are they unique? Here’s the explanation I like from their website:
‘Printfinity’ is MOO’s option of printing a different image on every card in the pack. Use it to show off your portfolio, your products or your range of skills. It’s a great conversation starter helping people to remember you, and your business.
Their site allows you to upload any number of unique images, which you can choose to use on their business card templates. For me, I chose 4 images that filled the backs of my cards. From left, clockwise, they are:
- Rocks (from the Jed Smith 50K in Sacramento)
- Vegetable Lasagna
- Maple Bacon Donuts
- Antelope Island run
This gives you a unique opportunity to give your new friends a choice when you pass out a business card – which one would you like? I literally spread out the options like a deck of cards (which is a conversation starter on its own). It’s fun in a dorky way!
Depending on the person and their interests, they choose the card that best fits them.
I really just got these cards because they were free, but I LOVE them. I’m already designing my next set, which will include a QR code (like Janetha’s, which I LOVE!) and more information about our coaching services. I love having a way to pass along my info, without having to find a scrap of paper.
I was not compensated in any way for this post, other than the Klout perk that allowed me to try the cards out. MOO has no idea that I exist (as far as I know) and they do not know that I am writing this post.

On a different topic, we’re headed to Colorado this weekend! I’m so excited that we are getting a chance to start the house-hunting process (in person) and some time to relax in our new state. We’re staying at a rental we found on VRBO.com, which I’m super-excited about. It’s one of the last weekends we get to take advantage of our awesome housesitter/petsitter – anyone know of a good one in the south-Denver area? Expect Colorado recaps and moving updates next week!!

I think the minis are cute, but I’m way too long-winded for that. I already need more space on mine. :)
I have some friends that live somewhere near Colorado Springs. If you end up moving to that part of the state, I should introduce you. They have three kids but they’re fun and like hiking and all that stuff.
I think Colorado Springs is about an 1 hour south of Denver, which means 30 minutes from where we are looking (I think). That’s not too far away in my opinion!
i love it!! so you! and is that what those perks are? sheesh, i never knew.

Thanks!! I’ve only used two perks (this being one of them), but YES that’s what it’s for. Free stuff is good!
I have one of your business cards! ;)
…and I think you have one of mine too! Enjoy Colorado!

I do have one of yours too!! I actually left mine at home yesterday when I actually needed one, after taking them out for this post’s photos. I don’t have many left – time to reorder!
FUN!! i love the idea of putting different images on each card!

Yea, it’s really different than anything I had ever seen before!
I just got mine done on Etsy. I need to pay better attention to the Klout perks!
Can’t wait for some pre-Colorado wine and art tonight!

Yours are really great though. Did you have somebody custom design them? Or was that your design? The benefit of using somebody on etsy vs. Moo is that you’ll get a professional design (assuming that they’re doing the design work too), which is worth the money spent.

I chose from a design they had. I think you can order them custom too though.

I like your business cards too – very cute and you actually had yours when you needed them (unlike me who forgot them at home)! :)
I *LOVE* business cards.
What catches my attention the most is good design. I have a bunch pinned to my “design porn” board on pinterest (http://pinterest.com/chimes/designy/).
And not only good design — something original, whether it be the paper, the weight, letterpress, a different layout (vertical if necessary to fit the information).
I hate double-sided business cards. Unless there is a purpose. Yours have a purpose — they show the different aspects of your blog. Some just have patterns on them to have patterns on them, and that annoys me. It’s a waste of ink and money.
I also hate oddball sized cards (including the mini moos). Some people still use old-school rolodexes and those just don’t work with them. However, I do like the mini moos as use for tags and labels for things. But they just don’t carry the weight of a business card.
My two cents. I’m a design geek. I could go on and on and on about this.

Oh, and if you use comic sans on a business card, you might as well throw the entire box in the trash. It’s not professional. Even if your job is teaching kindergarten.

I love your thoughtful answer!! I’m glad mine passed the Calee test, I know how it is when you’re passionate about something and you see other people doing it “wrong”. I’m going to double-check my fonts now – pretty sure I avoided comic sans. :)
I really need to get some cards made before this next blog conference in Denver next month! Good luck on the move!

Check out MOO – they often have good specials & I think you would like them. I wish I was going to be in town for that conference (the fitness one, right?), it looks like fun! Next time. :)
I don’t have any cards, but have been mulling over the idea since I saw YOUR awesome cards at Blend!! One of these days, soon… I will take the plunge :)

I need to make some business cards. My family owns a printing company, so I have no excuse!
HAVE FUN in Colorado (JEALOUS!) and good luck! Can’t wait to hear about it! :)

Love your business cards! I get mine from vistaprint.ca. It’s so cheap & easy to do online! :)

Thanks Char! I just ordered Kirk & I t-shirts from Vistaprint yesterday, I’m excited to see how they come out. Have you ordered other things or just cards from there?
I love your business cards girl! So happy for you :) Gorgeous!

Thanks Meg – you’re always so awesome & supportive!! =)
I got the mini cards through Klout and I LOVE them. I also receive so many compliments about them. I highly recommend MOO!
Glad to hear you’ve had the same experience – they seem to be a great company!
Heather – those business cards are SO cute!! I just had some made at Vistaprint, but I’m totally jealous :). Maybe I’ll go with Moo for round 2.
Question: Do you use business cards as a promotional tool ever? Like, show this card for 15% off?
Thanks! I hope you do get MOO for your second round, I think you’d really like them! I’ve never used my cards as a promotional tool for a discount, but it’s an interesting idea. :)
Your cards are freakin rad.
