An “Event-ful” Weekend Recap

It’s the weekend – yipee!! This past week has flown by and I was busy, busy, busy all week. I felt like I was a little behind all week, which is not my favorite feeling. I’m getting back to my lists and making appointments for myself on my calendar next week – it’s the little things that help keep me on track.

What’s one thing you’re going to focus on next week to make your life easier?

Weekend Recap

Knowing that you might be as busy (or busier!) than me, here’s what you may have missed on Better With Veggies:

MondayRace Recap: Jed Smith 50K

TuesdayGiveaway: Vega Sport Review & Giveaway!!

WednesdayWhat I Ate Wednesday – California-Style!

ThursdayRunning FAQ: Do Shoes Really Matter for Running?

FridayReview: Doughbot Donuts {Sacramento}

I’m still taking requests for what you want to learn about running (or multisport), so feel free to keep sending me your questions!

Cool Things You Should Know About

I want to share with you two cool “events” this weekend, in case you’ve missed them and might be interested.

The first is Blend Retreat (Blogger + Friend = Blend!). Here’s a little bit about Blend from their website:

The 2012 BLEND Retreat (named so because we wanted to combine “Blogger” with “Friend”) will be a relaxed, laid back retreat for healthy living, food and fitness bloggers across North America!!  Instead of focusing on seminars and speakers, the focus will be on FELLOWSHIP and having a weekend away to get to know one another in real life!

You might have noticed this new badge on my site, which proudly announces that I’ll be there!

I’m attending Blend Retreat 2012.

I am so excited to get to meet some really cool bloggers in May and I hope you’ll be there too! What are we going to do all weekend you ask?

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE (subject to change)

Friday, May 4th:

  • Meet and Greet – Dinner Served On-site in the historic Chautauqua Dining Hall, by Official Dinner Sponsor
  • Cocktails

Saturday, May 5th:

  • Group Bootcamp Class, led by NASM-certified personal trainer & Group Fitness Instructor, Lindsay Wright & NASM-certified personal trainer, Tina Reale
  • Breakfast Served On-site by Official Breakfast Sponsor, Xagave
  • Organized Hike
  • Group Tours of local businesses/Downtown Boulder
  • Lunch – Blogger’s Choice
  • FREE 2pm yoga class at Core Power Yoga in Boulder
  • Dinner – Local Restaurant

Sunday, May 6th:

  • Group Fitness Class, presented by Chobani Fit.  Featuring famed fitness industry leader, Tiffany VanDeMark!!
  • Breakfast Served On-site by Official Breakfast Sponsor, Chobani
  • Closing Ceremony/Raffle

Food, Fitness, Outdoors, and Friends!! One of things I’m really excited about is the food – they have really thought this through. At every meal, there will be vegan and gluten-free options available – so no excuses for those (like me) who want their kind of good food. :) And this retreat is priced less than any other blogger event I’ve seen – only $75 for a ticket for the whole weekend!!

The second cool thing I wanted to share is Best Body Bootcamp, an online bootcamp organized by Tina Reale, the personal trainer behind Best Body Fitness!

Here are the details on this awesome challenge:

WHO: Anyone! This challenge will be open to bloggers and readers, family and friends. Anyone who registers before the cut-off date (March 4th – day before challenge begins).

WHAT: Best Body Bootcamp Challenge

WHEN: 8 Weeks through March and April – beginning Monday March 5th and ending Monday April 30

WHERE: Online! Through www.tinareale.com .

WHY: A fun and flexible way to train to get ready for those warmer months that are fast approaching. A great way to stay motivated through the support of other participants. To learn and experience new workout techniques and exercises. To enter to win great prizes!!!!

Did I mention it’s only $25 to participate?! That’s a really great deal and might be just the thing you need to jump-start your fitness goals (or make sure they keep going strong!). She’s even offering cash prizes you can win by participating!

P1140801

There’s tons of information and FAQs on her website, so check it out this weekend.

And that’s a wrap for this week!

I’m off to log some miles running, spend some quality time with my hubby, and get some good relaxing in this weekend. Any cool plans for the weekend to share?

Wait… I just read that we are allowed to wear whatever we want to the Friday dinner EXCEPT our birthday suit. That’s BS. I’m no longer going. ;)

Thanks for the support!!! And I read your recap Monday on my phone, but just realized I never made it back to comment. HUGE congrats on such a great first 50K. How cool that the 6 loop course ended up being a blessing in disguise. You’re inspiring!
