Eyeballs and Witch Fingers Make Halloween a Party!
Saturday was a day full of food! Melody and I threw a Halloween Party, complete with tons of vegan treats to share with our (mostly) non-veggie friends. Lucky for them – we baked some delicious, spooky treats to share with the group.
What was on the menu for the party?
Chik’n Buffalo Dip: It was so much fun sharing my recipe with my friends! I made WAY too much (of course), but I think everyone enjoyed it! I made this batch slightly smokier (extra chipotle chile powder) and marinated the buffalo sauce soaked chik’n overnight.
We hallowed-out a medium pumpkin to act as the serving bowl for tonight’s presentation. Don’t worry, it didn’t give the dip a pumpkin-y taste. :)
Witches Fingers: Thanks to Chef Chloe for this awesome recipe! The cookies looked more difficult than they really were. After making the dough, Kirk helped divide into the perfect size portion while I rolled each into cigar-shaped tubes. Rolling them over your fingers at the end gives it the perfect “knuckle” texture. Make sure you really make these skinny or they spread out to fat fingers during baking.
Another Chef Chloe recipe was the Mini Eyeball Cupcakes, which Melody made! These turned out so cute and taste delicious. The only problem? They are so adorable looking, you almost hate to eat them. :)
A last-minute addition to the menu was Carrie’s recently posted High-Protein Tofu Salad Dressing. I actually made this for lunch, but as we were laying the table it made sense to add as a dip. I have a feeling I’ll be putting this delicious dressing on everything for the next week – which is okay with me!
This went well with the veggies and as a sauce for the Tofu Dippers from Peas and Thank You. Other dips on the table included Mmmmm Sauce (another Mama Pea creation), Salsa, and Dijon Mustard.
And check out these awesome mood-setting decorations! I have to admit Melody did most of the work, but the creepy guy on the stairs was my big contribution. :)
Last, but not least, a parting shot of the hostesses – Melody was a flapper and her hubby was a gangster. I was an Indian to go with Kirk’s Cowboy. Happy Halloween!
